We enjoyed meeting author Jarrett J. Krosoczka! In our lower school assembly he told us that he has always wanted to be a writer and he even showed a picture of his very first book, written when he was in third grade. Mr. Krosoczka told the students that it takes lots of practice to become an author/illustrator. He also shared that he had many rejection letters from publishers before a publisher finally agreed to publish one of his books. He thinks it is important to go through the whole writing process - brainstorming, drafting, and rewriting. We know that editors are very important to writers. He told us that it is much better to catch mistakes before the book goes to print! Mr. Krosoczka taught the 1D Diamonds so much about illustrating! Many 1D writers have started writing their own books, filled with speech and thought bubbles!
