Combinations of TEN!

We used ten frames to help us visualize the concept of 10. We reached into the blue tray to choose 10 circles - some were gingerbread boys and others were gingerbread girls. We recorded our combinations - 7 girls and 3 boys, 2 girls and 8 boys, etc. It was fun to see how many different combinations we could make.

The Penny Grab Game ~ We started with ten pennies. Then we put them in a pile and grabbed some coins in the right hand and some in the left. We kept track of how many pennies were in each hand. We charted the various combinations of ten. The best part of math this week was penny exploration! We discovered so many things about pennies. We even noticed one unusual coin, and we found out that it was a penny from Canada.
